Latin
American dances have been described as earthy, sensual, sexy, rhythmic,
taunting, teasing and tantalising. There are five dances which together
make up the Latin American group.
From Cuba we have the romantic Rumba. This is a slow Latin dance - the dance of love, popular for wedding dances. Also from Cuba we have the cheeky Cha Cha Cha. This is a fast paced and flirtatious dance. From Brazil we have the Brazilian carnival dance, the Samba. From the USA we have the Jive. This has been developed from other styles such as Lindy Hop, Jitterbug and East and West Coast Swing. From Spain we have the Paso Doble. The choreography used in the Paso depicts the story of a bull fight. Some choreography is also based on Flamenco dancing.
